One of my goals with Embarque & Co. is to create inexpensive solutions to expensive problems. The number one problem that I hear about is staying organized during this busy time of year (especially when it comes to getting in and out of the house).
Many of us dream of having a mudroom to keep us organized, but very few of us have the space or finances to make this dream a reality, so I decided to use some creativity and create a makeshift mudroom for less than $150.
Let’s do this!
Before this mini makeover, the porch was fine, but in reality, shoes sprawled all over the floor is exactly the best introduction into your home for guests. This room ended up being a catch-all for items being loaded and unloaded to and from the car. The most important part of staying organized, is making sure the organizing steps make being organized convenient, or else it’ll never stick.
There were only two things needed to turn this porch into a mudroom/porch combination room: a sturdy coat rack and a shoe cabinet.
The most import piece (for my space) is the shoe cabinet (because the shoes were my #1 issue).
After a decent amount of research, I chose this shoe rack from Ikea (due to the great views, the storage drawer, and the overall style of the cabinet).
My hope for you is that this can inspire you to make small and inexpensive changes in your home to create your well-lived life.
